Trusted CI Student Program - Application Information

The Trusted CI Student Program offers students an unparalleled opportunity to engage in cybersecurity education, hands-on learning, and professional development within the NSF Cyberinfrastructure (CI) community.

📅 Program Timeline

Applications open each year in early spring. Exact dates will be posted with that year’s call for applications. Generally:

  • Application Deadline: March

  • Notification of Acceptance: April/May

  • Program Activities: Summer and Fall, including the annual NSF Cybersecurity Summit

📝 How to Apply

When applications open, students will be asked to submit:

  1. Application Form (link will be provided when applications are live)

  2. Personal Statement describing your interest in cybersecurity and the CI community

  3. Biosketch/Resume highlighting academic achievements and activities

  4. Faculty Support Letter on institution letterhead, emailed directly by your faculty member/advisor to students@trustedci.org by the application deadline

🎁 Program Benefits

  • Participate in workshops, networking events, and mentorship opportunities

  • Attend the annual NSF Cybersecurity Summit

  • Receive a stipend to cover travel and accommodation for the Summit (students arrange their own travel; guidance provided upon acceptance)

✅ Eligibility

  • Open to all students with a strong interest in cybersecurity

  • No prior experience required

  • Students who have participated in previous years are not eligible to reapply

📌 Commitment

By applying, students agree to:

  • Attend and actively participate in program workshops and events

  • Attend the NSF Cybersecurity Summit

  • Coordinate and manage their travel using the provided stipend

  • Engage with peers, mentors, and CI professionals throughout the program
